CKAA Chartering - Dec 1, 2008
Thanks to brother Rick Lopes II, the California Kappa Alumni Association is now a registered Chapter Alumni Association with Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. The chartering process, though simple, is a milestone in the birth of an association to link alumni of the chapter from all associations. With the charter has come new alumni interest in the chapter, and several alumni have come forward to lead the CKAA and its objective of reconnecting alumni and hosting events to strengthen the bonds. |

Academic Leaders - October 1, 2008
UC Davis released the academic performance of all the Greek houses on campus, and this year Sigma Alpha Epsilon is at the top of the list. Ranking in at #3 behind two sororities has been virtually unheard-of at UC Davis until the 2007-08 academic year. Typically fraternities place about 2 tenths of a point below the all campus male average. Many attribute the lower performance to the intense commitment and demand of a fraternity, however, this year SAE proved otherwise. The house GPA was approximately 3.1 with 39 brothers on the roster (among the larger of the houses ranked). The next nearest fraternity came in at under 2.9. The campus male average was 2.8 and a Greek male average at 2.7.
Nationally Recognized - July, 2008
Sigma Alpha Epsilon Nationals awarded the California Kappa Chapter the "Chapter Achievement Award" matched with the "Most Improved Chapter" award. Both awards signify Cal-Kappa's commitment to the True Gentleman and the principles of the fraternity. The Chapter Achievement Award is bestowed to the top chapters in the realm displaying positive alumni relations, scholarship recognition, and campus involvement.
IFC Leaders - June, 2008
For the fourth time in five years the active chapter took home the prestigious "Award of Excellence" also known as the House of the Year award at UC Davis from the inter-fraternity council. This is a three-peat for the chapter. The award is given to the house with the best overall program. Considerations involve alumni relations, campus involvement, philanthropy, risk management, academics, and membership development. On a campus with 15 active fraternities, this award is a sign that the Cal-Kappa chapter is continuing its legacy of excellence. |
